Discussing projects with professionals allows us to better understand how we can adjust our technologies to better assist them in their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Construction projects generate lots of different types of information, including drawings, specs, BIM models, RFIs, submittals, clash reports, emails, meeting notes, site photos, etc. Project teams may manage this information in various platforms, including Procore, ACC, Navisworks, SharePoint, G-Drive, Dropbox, and Box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Add to that the jobsite. There’s 360\u00b0 site imagery, drone site captures, laser scans, site photos, etc. The challenge is combining these different sources when a decision relies on more than one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Let’s say you’re looking into a coordination issue. You would need to check a drawing, find the matching spec, check the BIM model, and see what was actually installed. With project data residing in numerous disconnected systems, this is the type of work that is required to conclude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The tools themselves are not the issue.
