A discipline worth adopting broadly: photographing key concealed conditions immediately before cover-up, even when the inspection itself found no issues to note. That photographic record becomes valuable evidence later, precisely when a question arises about conditions nobody thought to document at the time, because everything looked fine and nobody anticipated needing proof of it months or years down the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Third-party special inspection requirements, increasingly common on complex structural and life-safety-critical work, add an independent layer of quality control beyond what a GC’s own internal program provides. These inspections typically focus on specific high-consequence items: welding, post-tensioning, and fireproofing thickness, where the code requires independent verification rather than relying solely on the contractor’s self-reported quality control. Coordinating scheduling between the GC’s internal QC and any required third-party special inspection prevents expensive delays that can arise while waiting for an inspector to become available at a critical stage for items that prevent subsequent trades from proceeding until the inspection has been signed off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
