Lifecycle Intelligence

Lifecycle intelligence refers to the connected tracking of a building’s information and performance data across its full lifecycle, from design and construction through operation to eventual renovation or demolition, rather than treating each phase as a separate record with no continuity with what came before.

Most buildings today lose a huge amount of institutional knowledge at the handoff points between phases. Design intent gets partially captured in construction documents but rarely survives fully into facilities management. Construction-phase decisions, change orders, and as-built conditions get closed out and archived, often in formats the eventual facilities team never actually opens. Lifecycle intelligence, as a concept, is the effort to keep that information connected and usable across those handoffs rather than accepting the loss as inevitable.
