Meeting Minutes (MOM)

Meeting minutes are a written record of the conversations and the decisions made during a meeting. The attendees, topics, decisions, and tasks assigned to participants are usually documented. Minutes are distributed to meeting participants after the meeting for review and to allow them an opportunity to make corrections, if needed.

On construction projects, minutes carry more contractual weight than the term might suggest to someone outside the industry. A decision documented in meeting minutes and not objected to within a reasonable time can function as an accepted record of what was agreed, which is why some project teams explicitly build a review-and-object window into their minutes distribution process, rather than treating the minutes as a purely informal summary nobody’s expected to actually read carefully.
